The Gainesville Youth Chorus tours within the state of Florida during the school year. Extended tours throughout the United States and Europe are conducted during the summer.

Children's vocal workshops are offered throughout the summer for aspiring young singers. Workshops are 3 hours in length and open to children aged 7 to 18 years of age in Gainesville and the surrounding areas. No audition is necessary!

Membership in the Gainesville Youth Chorus is by audition only. Prospective members may audition in one of two ways; summer workshops or public audition. GYC summer workshops are held in June and July each year, and participants are welcome to audition for membership at the conclusion of each session. For information on this year's workshops contact GYC.

Public auditions are held at 4:00 PM on the first Thursday that public schools are back in session each August. All auditions are held in the music room at Glen Springs Elementary, 2826 Northwest 31st Avenue, Gainesville, Florida. Children who wish to audition should come prepared to sing 14-16 bars of a song of their choice. Performances may be accompanied by piano or a capella. (Please, no taped accompaniments.) It is suggested that children contact one of the GYC accompanists if they need their services. Each singer auditioning will also be asked to sing several prepared melodic and rhythmic phrases.

The annual Holiday Traditions Concert is sponsored by Stop! Children's Cancer, a locally founded non-profit organization of people committed to the prevention, control and cure of cancer in children. Four area choirs are selected each year by Dr. Russell Robinson to perform along with the Alachua County Youth Orchestra, directed by Gary Langford. The Gainesville Youth Chorus is proud to be selected to perform for this event again this year!

Each year, GYC selects three to four special care facilities in the Gainesville area and presents informal holiday programs for them. Our gift of caring and music brightens both our audience and the lives of our members during the holiday season.

The annual Ladies' Tea and Silent Auctions is one of two major fund raising events for our organization. Held at the Sweetwater Branch Inn, tickets to this elegant, catered event are much sought after! The silent auction is overshadowed only by the afternoon concert presented by the choirs of the Gainesville Youth Chorus.
